And the winner is...MN Football Hub defensive top performer revealed

See who fans voted as the top performer from Sept. 8-10.

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Football Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

Cayden Vokal, Maple Grove. The Crimson put together another strong defensive effort, led by Vokal. The senior linebacker made six total tackles, including one for a loss, and a sack. He also forced a fumble and recovered a fumble — his fourth of the season — as the Crimson defeated Totino-Grace 45-7. 

Top performer candidates

Blake Bullerman, United South Central. Bullerman led the Rebels’ defense as they held off Medford for a 22-20 victory. The junior made 16 total tackles, one sack and recovered a fumble.

Roman Dreis, Minneapolis South. The Tigers’ offense and defense were all ready for Minneapolis Roosevelt, recording a dominant 59-0 win. The Tigers were led by sophomore Dreis, who had 13 tackles and a sack in the win.

Alex Elliott, Hutchinson. After eight total tackles between his first two games of the season, the senior more than doubled that total in the Tigers’ 44-0 win at Willmar. Elliott made 17 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Stefano Giovannelli, St. Louis Park. The senior recorded three of the Orioles’ touchdowns in their 28-15 victory against Bloomington Jefferson — but two of them on defense. After scoring his first touchdown on offense in the second quarter, Giovannelli returned an interception for a 65-yard TD in the third and then scored again on a 17-yard interception return later in the quarter. He snagged three interceptions in the game and added three tackles.  

Chase Housman, Litchfield. The Dragons shut out Holy Family 23-0, led by Housman's 13 tackles, including two for a loss. He also recorded a sack and forced a fumble.

Morgan Muir, Kittson County Central. After allowing a late first-quarter touchdown, the Bearcats kept Stephen-Argyle Central off the board the rest of the game. The junior linebacker made eight solo tackles and 15 total tackles, including one for a loss, as the Bearcats won 36-8.  

Ben Ostendorf, Princeton. The junior led the Tigers’ defensive effort in their 17-6 victory against Zimmerman. He made seven solo tackles and 13 total tackles and grabbed an interception in the win.

Calder Sheehan, Rochester Mayo. The sophomore linebacker was part of an impressive Spartans defensive line as they defeated Northfield 35-6. Sheehan made 11 total tackles, including one for a loss. He also recovered a fumble.

Blake Tylutki, Rocori. The senior linebacker led the Spartans’ 29-14 victory against Sartell-St. Stephen, making 15 total tackles and a sack. Tylutki sits near the top in the state with 31 total tackles so far this season.
