We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.
St. Peter vs. Marshall, 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 5. Marshall is on a 21-game regular-season winning streak and has won 39 of its last 40 games in the regular season. St. Peter (5-0, 4-0) is off to its first 5-0 start since 2012 and looks to beat the No. 6-4A Tigers (5-0, 5-0) in South Central Red subdistrict play.
Redwood Valley vs. Jackson County Central, 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 5. After knocking off No. 3-1A Pipestone 16-14 last Friday, Redwood Valley can take full control of the South Central White subdistrict with a win against Jackson Country Central (5-0, 4-0). It will be no easy task for the No. 8-2A Cardinals (5-0, 4-0), however, as the No. 4-3A Huskies are scoring 49.6 points per game this season.
St. Paul Central vs. SMB, 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 5. SMB can lock up the Twin City Maroon subdistrict title this week by beating St. Paul Central. The No. 4-4A Wolfpack (5-0, 4-0) were nearly upended by the Minutemen (3-2, 2-2) 21-20 last season.
