We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.
Ottertail Central vs. Pillager, 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 14. Though it has changed leagues, Ottertail Central has remained a dominant program. The Bulldogs have finished atop the league standings in each of the last five seasons, and a win over Pillager (2-0, 1-0), which finished second in the Midwest Blue standings last year, would give the No. 10-1A Bulldogs (2-0, 1-0) a clear road to a sixth consecutive title.
Fairmont vs. Waseca, 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 14. Averaging 59 points per game this season, No. 5-4A Waseca is the South Central Red subdistrict's highest scoring team. The Bluejays (2-0, 1-0) look to continue the trend against No. 4-3A Fairmont (1-1, 0-1).
DeLaSalle vs. Benilde-St. Margaret's, 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 14. Benilde-St. Margaret's quest to defend its Suburban Red subdistrict crown continues this week against No. 10-4A DeLaSalle (1-1, 1-0), a team averaging 44.5 points per game. The Red Knights (1-1, 1-0) blew out the Islanders 60-21 in last season's meeting.
