Minnetonka edged Champlin Park 8-6 in the season opener Aug. 22.

The game was a defensive battle, with the Skippers hanging on to record the victory.

Marshall Glodoski scored a touchdown on a 44-yard early in the second quarter, and then converted the two-point try to give Minnetonka an 8-0 lead.

The Rebels got on the scoreboard late in the fourth quarter when quarterback Chad Costello connected with receiver Eldridge Joyce on a 20-yard touchdown pass. The ensuing two-point conversion failed, and Minnetonka ran out the clock.

Champlin Park travels to Centennial while Minnetonka hosts Prior Lake next Friday.
