Aug. 22: Totino-Grace opens the season hosting Eden Prairie in a rematch of last year's thrilling Class 6A Prep Bowl.

Last year’s Class 6A Prep Bowl between Eden Prairie and Totino-Grace will go down as one of the most thrilling games in state championship history, and the teams’ rematch in Week 1 seems the perfect way to kickstart the 2015 season.

Eden Prairie had rarely been tested last season, and the Eagles’ 28-27 victory over Totino-Grace for the Class 6A title was their closest game. Eden Prairie rallied from a 21-7 halftime deficit and took a seven-point lead with a touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Totino-Grace stormed back, scoring a touchdown with 1:39 remaining and closing the gap to one point. Eden Prairie, however, preserved the deficit by knocking the ball from the hands of the Totino-Grace receiver during the two-point conversion, and then recovered an onside kick and ran out the clock to seal its fourth consecutive state crown.

While Eden Prairie graduated several key players, it's hard to bet against Eagles head coach Mike Grant and his team’s 30-game winning streak. As a result, Totino-Grace is an underdog despite the program’s long history of success, which includes six consecutive state tournament appearances and the Class 5A title in 2012 and the Class 4A crown in 2010 and 2009.
