STMA wins homecoming tilt

It was homecoming for St. Michael Alberville, and they came out strong.  On a pooch kick to start the game St. Michael recovered which lead to the first points for the Knights.  With 3:28 left in the 1st, Chris Kartes kept his hot streak going by having a long 40 yard TD run making the score 10-0.

With 11:26 left in the 1st half, the wildcats quarterback Berg threw a 16 yard touchdown pass to William Gillach making the score 7-10 St. Michael.  With 8:17 left in the half a 38 yard touchdown made the score 17-7 St. Michael.  With 2:26 left in the half Mitch Berg touchdown throw to William Gillach, making the score at half 17-14 in favor of the Knights.

7:45 left in the third Chris Kartes fumbles into the endzone recovered by Noah Evans.  The PAT is blocked, making the score 23-14 St. Michael.  With 5:08 left in the third Mitch Berg runs for a 17 yard tocuhdown run, but the PAT is blocked, making the score 20-23 Knights.  2:04 left in 3rd a 48 yard pass from Greenwaldt to Freeman made the score 30-20 in favor of St. Michael.  

Then, the 4th quarter of this shootout began, with a 7 yard Touchdown run by Chisago Lakes Josh Parks, making the score 26-30 in favor of Knights.  With 7:39 left in the game, Greenwaldt passes to Freeman on a 26 yard tocuhdown pass making the score 37-26 St. Michael.  The defesnse of the Knights also played a big part in the winning of the game late in the 4th, sealing the victory twice on a goal line stand, and an interception by Dallas Freeman.  

The MVP's of this game are Dallas Freeman with 6 receptions for 174 yard and three touchdown passes, along with a game sealing interception.  The Chisago Lakes MVP were Josh Parks with and Mitch Berg both having huge games. With this win, St. Michael moves their undefeated on, as Chisago Lakes drops to 4-1

Up next for the wildcats is North Branch.  For the Knights, they travel to Duluth East.
