South upends North to win All-Star Game

South scores 24 straight points in a 24-14 victory.

The South team team spotted their rivals from the North an early touchdown, then scored 24 unanswered points to win the 40th Annual Minnesota High School Football All-State Game 24-14 Saturday at St. Cloud State University.

Winona’s Eric Birth, Hopkins’ John DenHartog and Kasson-Mantorville’s Riley Donovan scored on short touchdown runs and Wyatt Schmidt added a 36-yard field goal for the South. The North’s points came on two touchdown passes from Perham’s Jordan Hein to Maple Grove’s Jake Wieneke.

Saturday marked the 20th time the game used a North vs. South format. The South leads the series 10-9-1.
