Mahnomen scores 14 in 2nd QTR stays ahead to win easily

Shutting out their opponents, Mahnomen beat Barnum 26 to zip at Duluth on Saturday. Neither team managed to put points on the board in the first quarter. Mahnomen added 14 straight points in the second quarter to break the tie and take the lead. Halftime saw Mahnomen on top 14 to 0. Barnum would not be able to answer back. In the third quarter Mahnomen scored 12 points to keep in the lead. With both teams scoreless in the fourth quarter, Mahnomen conserved its lead, and was the winner.

In the second quarter, Mahnomen's Trevor Haugo rushed 7 yards over the goal line. This was the nail in the coffin for Barnum. Mahnomen pierced the defense when Jacob Pavek took the ball running scoring a touchdown. In the third quarter, Mahnomen found more success on the ground when Pavek rushed past the defense 21 yards for another touchdown. Picking apart the secondary, Pavek hit the target again on a 34 yard pass to Nathan Hanson for a touchdown.

Mahnomen continued their current win streak of nine games and ended up with a unblemished record of 10-0. Barnum finished the game with a record of 4-2.
