Andover defense stops opponent's passing game to get the win on the road

Andover beat Park Center 28 to 6 at Pride Stadium in Brooklyn Park on Friday. Andover racked up 14 points to jump in to the lead in the first quarter. Neither team scored in the second quarter so Andover kept their lead. The half ended with Andover up 14 to 0. In the third quarter Andover outgunned their opponents by 1 point and added to their advantage. Andover scored 7 points in the fourth quarter piling on and winning the game.

In the first quarter, Andover got points on the board when Connor Wilkie tossed a 9 yard pass to Drew Groettum for a touchdown. This put Andover out in front for good. Firing from above, Andover's Wilkie hit the end zone again on a 63 yard pass to Chris Larson for a score. In the third quarter, rolling on, Andover's Derek McLaughlin ran 25 yards to score a TD. In the fourth quarter, on the flip side, Park Center's Antoine Scott carried 5 yards to score a TD. Pushing back, Andover's Dom Zeece rushed ahead 10 yards scoring a TD.

The Andover offense owned the passing and rushing game. Having a huge impact in the air, Connor Wilkie threw for 178 yards with 13 of 26 passes completed. Wilkie also threw two interceptions. In receiving, Chris Larson caught five passes for 81 yards and had two touchdown grabs. Unstoppable on the run, Derek McLaughlin scrambled down the field 16 times for a total of 106 yards. McLaughlin ran for a TD once.

Park Center's offense came up short. Antoine Scott rushed for 73 yards with 23 carries. Scott ran for a TD. Joe Davis made three receptions for 30 total yards.

Park Center's defense did their best to hold off Andover, allowing 151 yards rushing and 190 passing. They picked off Andover twice.

Andover ended their losing streak of two games and improved to a record of 3-4. Park Center ended the game with a record of 1-6.
