Blaine takes 14 point lead in 1st quarter, goes on for a huge victory

In a rout, Blaine was superior against Coon Rapids 56 to 7 at Blaine High School in Blaine on Friday. Blaine tallied up 14 points to jump in to the lead in the first quarter. Blaine gained 14 points in the second quarter and held on to its lead. Halftime saw Blaine on top 28 to 0. In the third quarter Blaine scored 28 straight points to keep in the lead. In the fourth quarter Coon Rapids scored 7 points but it was too little to late and they ended up with the loss.

In the first quarter, Blaine got things going in the air when Alex Copa lobbed a 56 yard pass to Joe Robel for a TD. Blaine was in control from then on. Keeping up the pressure, Copa connected again on a 17 yard pass to Tyler Drewlo for a touchdown. In the second quarter, piercing though the defense, Kunle Ayinde took the ball running 5 yards scoring a touchdown. Then Ayinde again took the ball running scoring another TD. In the third quarter, continuing the roll, Blaine's Ayinde once more ran with the ball scoring another TD. Airing out the defense, Lammi Aga threw a 16 yard pass to Zach Wylie for a touchdown. Afterwards, Logan Elton of Blaine ran for a 8 yard touchdown after recovering a fumble. Continuing the roll, Martin Cheruiyot scored a 25 yard touchdown for Blaine after scooping up a fumble. In the fourth quarter, in response, Coon Rapids's Mike Smith punched through the defense 22 yards for a TD.

Blaine ended their streak of 2 losing games and ended up with a record of 3 and 2. Coon Rapids finished the game with a record of 0 and 5.
