Connor Wilkie scores a lot as Andover counts on its secondary for the victory on the road

Connor Wilkie did the lion's share of scoring for Andover, connecting in the air for three touchdowns.

Andover triumphed over Coon Rapids 34 to 13 at Coon Rapids High School in Coon Rapids on Friday. Andover racked up 14 points to jump in to the lead in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Coon Rapids outscored their opponents, however Andover kept its lead. Halftime saw Andover up 20 to 7. In the third quarter Andover tallied up 8 more points than Coon Rapids and added to their advantage. With both teams scoreless in the fourth quarter, Andover protected its lead, and was the winner.

In the first quarter, Andover's Connor Wilkie completed a 15 yard pass to Chris Larson for a TD. It proved too much for Coon Rapids. Andover kept going when Derek McLaughlin forged ahead running 11 yards to score a TD. In the second quarter, however, Jordan Rayford scored a 105 yard touchdown for Coon Rapids on an interception. In response, Andover's Connor Wilkie tossed a 25 yard pass to Justin Freyholtz for a TD. In the third quarter, pushing forward, Andover's Derek McLaughlin plowed ahead 6 yards over the goal line. Coon Rapids charged back when Deshon Johnson rushed ahead 8 yards for a touchdown. Andover shot back when Connor Wilkie drilled a 30 yard pass to Tyler Evans for a score.

Andover's offense was superior on the ground and in the air. Racking up yards in the air, Connor Wilkie got 177 yards on 13 completions out of 21 passes attempted. Wilkie was intercepted once. As the stand out receiver, Tyler Evans caught 7 receptions for 108 yards and had one touchdown grab. Proving too much for Coon Rapids's defense, Derek McLaughlin rushed through the defense for 130 yards on 24 carries. McLaughlin ran for a TD twice.

Coon Rapids's offense came up short. Johnson ran for a TD.

Coon Rapids's defense did their best to hold off Andover, allowing 176 yards rushing and 183 passing. They picked off Andover once returning one for a touchdown.

Andover ended their streak of 2 losing games and ended up with a record of 1 and 2. Coon Rapids ended the game with a record of 0-3.
