David Warren-Mitchell, Eden Prairie. The Eagles quarterback had a proficient passing performance on Oct. 9, completing nine of 12 attempts for 230 yards, three TDs, and no interceptions. The senior also contributed 35 yards and a touchdown on the ground in the Eagles’ 34-7 victory over Minnetonka.
Logan Freeburg, Lakeville North. The Panthers opened their season on Oct. 10 and Freeburg found his stride, amassing 170 yards and four touchdowns on 20 carries. The senior running back — coming off a season in which he racked up 17 rushing TDs — scored on runs of 4, 1, 8 and 72 yards, respectively, in Lakeville North's 55-14 victory over Cretin-Derham Hall.
Colton Hackel, Perham. Hackel picked up where he left off last season, when he finished with 1,556 passing yards, 19 TD passes and 13 rushing touchdowns. The junior quarterback went 14-for-22 through the air for 277 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions on Oct. 9 in the Yellowjackets’ 40-7 victory over Park Rapids. Hackel also rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown, as well as successfully managing three two-point conversions — one passing and two rushing.
Matt Madsen, Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda. Madsen ran for three touchdowns — including two of more than 50 yards — in the Coyotes’ 48-20 victory over Edgerton/Ellsworth. Madsen carried the ball 18 times for 223 yards on Oct. 9. The senior had touchdown runs of 59, 55 and 3 yards, while also running in a pair of two-point conversions.
Alex Wood, Stewartville. Wood scampered for 209 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries in the Tigers’ 35-8 road victory over Zumbrota-Mazeppa on Oct. 9. Wood also caught two passes for 20 yards in the triumph.
