Anoka in overtime; Mounds Views wins at the gun; Benilde roars back; DeLaSalle is out

Class 5A, Section 7
• ANOKA 35, CENTENNIAL 34, OT: No. 1 seeded Anoka survived a home scare by No. 4 seed Centennial. Trailing 28-12 late in the game, Centennial's Jordan Clark ran for a 20-yard touchdown. Centennial recovered an onside kick and quarterback Evan Ostegren connected with Ben LaMere on an 8-yard pass with 33 seconds remaining. Michael Diggins scored on a dive up the middle to tie the game and send it to overtime.
In overtime, Centennial's Jesse Wolfe scored on a 10-yard run but the extra point was wide right. Anoka's Cole Boughner then tied the score, running in untouched from 10 yards out. The extra point was good by Mitch Dorale, a soccer team captain. Dorale replaced Anoka's original placekicker, Tony Erickson, after Erickson broke a bone in his foot in late September.
Class 5A, Section 2
• MOUNDS VIEW 19, STILLWATER 18: Senior quarterback Mike Kerfeld threw a five-yard touchdown pass to senior Quinn Madsen as time expired, giving the Mustangs (9-1) a thrilling victory and propelling them into next Friday’s section final against Totino-Grace (9-1). Madsen finished with 10 catches for 126 yards.
Class 5A, Section 4
• EAGAN 63, WOODBURY 29: Senior quarterback Drew Bauer was 13-for-19 passing with 151 yards and two touchdowns, and added 16 carries for 214 yards and three touchdowns on the ground to lead Eagan (6-4).
Class 5A, Section 6
• EDEN PRAIRIE 48, EDINA 20: Eden Prairie quarterback Grant Schaeffer was 4 for 4 with 2 touchdowns and 142 yards, while Andrew Larson had 10 carries, 53 yards, and 2 touchdowns.
Class 5A, Section 8
• MOORHEAD 40, ELK RIVER 11: What was looking like a dream season for Elk River turned nightmarish as the No. 1-seeded Elks fell to the fourth-seeded Spuds. During the regular season, Elk River beat Moorhead 31-29 on a last-second field goal. The Elks, who had lost 16 consecutive games prior to this season, won six of their first seven games before falling to St. Michael-Albertville in the regular-season finale.
Class 4A, Section 6
• BENILDE-ST. MARGARET’S 36, ORONO 34: Isaiah Gray caught a 26-yard touchdown pass from sophomore Keaton Studsrud with 1 minute, 11 seconds remaining to cap a stunning 22-point fourth quarter and send the Red Knights to the Section 6 final on Saturday. Orono had been in control, leading 32-14 going into the final quarter. Touchdown runs by Studsrud and senior running back Javon Snelson (his second of the game) less than five minutes into the quarter pulled Benilde within three. Orono senior quarterback Grant Schoen had 190 passing yards and added a rushing touchdown.
• SPRING LAKE PARK 21, FRIDLEY 0: The top-seeded Panthers blanked the Tigers for their fourth shutout in the last five games. Ejodamen Ejiya rushed for two touchdowns. It was the second consecutive game between Spring Lake Park and Fridley; when they met in the regular-season finale, Spring Lake Park won 26-13.
Class 4A, Section 3
• ST. THOMAS ACADEMY 42, SIMLEY 8: The Cadets scored on each of their four first-half possessions and also got an interception return for a TD by Danny McManus to jump out to a big, early lead. Nick Waldvogel rushed for 76 yards and two TDs on only four carries. Hootie Hubbell and Keegan Zimprich also ran in scores for St. Thomas Academy, which will play South St. Paul in the section final Friday.
Class 4A, Section 5
• ROGERS 31, MONTICELLO 7: Senior Kyle Williams gained 127 yards on 22 carries and scored three touchdowns, helping the Royals cruise into the Section 5 final. Rogers junior Nate Roehl ran for 101 yards and a score on just four carries.
Class 4A, Section 4
• HUTCHINSON 42, MARSHALL 28: Tigers junior quarterback McKinley Anderson ran for five touchdowns and threw for another. Senior running back Beau Bofferding tried to keep Marshall in the game, scoring all four of his team’s TDs — three on the ground, one through the air — to bring his season total to 37.
Class 3A, Section 5
• ROCKFORD 16, DELASALLE 14: Extra points made the difference in Rockford’s upset win over top-seeded DeLaSalle. Josh Green’s halfback pass to Nick Monssen on a two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference. Green, a senior tailback, also scored Rockford’s first successful conversion in the other in the first quarter. Sophomore quarterback Brock Deering tossed two touchdown passes. DeLaSalle’s Chris Williams ran for 161 yards and scored the Islanders’ go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter.

Dalton Clause rushed for 115 yards and another score for the Panthers.
Class 2A, Section 4
