MINNETONKA AT WAYZATA, 7 P.M.

David says: Minnetonka 24, Wayzata 21

With a fast defensive secondary, solid running game and accurate quarterback, Minnetonka matches the defending champion Trojans across the board. The battle for the Bay Bell typically showcases the best in schoolboy football. This time, the Skippers get the edge.

Jim says: Wayzata 20, Minnetonka 7

One of the advantages of being the state's largest high school is a ready supply of athletes. Wayzata loses Mitch Underhill to injury? In steps Eric Roti, the defending Lake Conference 100-meter dash champ who rushed for 98 yards on just seven carries against Carmel (Ill.) Catholic last week. This program just continues to reload.

ANOKA AT CENTENNIAL, 7 P.M.

David says: Centennial 20, Anoka 14

Anoka stunned Blaine last week but will not catch Centennial napping. A multi-faceted offense, led by quarterback Evan Ostergren, and solid defense keys the Cougars' victory and keeps them on pace for at least a share of the conference title.

Jim says: Anoka 33, Centennial 20

Anoka's 59-point outburst against Blaine put a spotlight on the Tornadoes' explosive rushing attack. The trio of Josh Werness, Ryan Rand and D.J. Johnson have more than 1,000 combined yards on the ground and average more than 9 yards a carry. They'll wear out Centennial.

WOODBURY AT WHITE BEAR LAKE, 7 P.M.

David says: Woodbury 24, White Bear Lake 14

The Royals are flying high after last week's overtime victory against crosstown rival East Ridge. A balanced offense has averaged about 38 points in the past three victories. Woodbury again will finish its drives with points and leave the Bears' run-oriented attack little time or opportunity to get rolling.

Jim says: White Bear Lake 34, Woodbury 28

White Bear Lake has not gathered the attention its 3-1 record deserves, considering that, if not for a tough fourth quarter against Stillwater, the Bears would be undefeated. Their option offense, led by QB Eric Gebeke, is more diverse than in years past. Gebeke has passed for as many touchdowns, four, as he has scored.
