We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.
Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City vs. Minnewaska, 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 13. There might be something in the water in Atwater. How else do we explain that Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City (2-0, 1-0) has not one but two of the state’s leading rushers? Expect a high-scoring game against Minnewaska (2-0, 1-0), which has 88 points through two weeks.
LeRoy-Ostrander vs. Grand Meadow, 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 13. Grand Meadow (2-0, 2-0) is the state’s No. 1-ranked 9-Man squad and winner of four state titles since 2013. But don't count out unranked LeRoy-Ostrander (2-0, 2-0) in this matchup of neighboring schools situated just north of the Iowa border — the Cardinals have amassed a combined 123 points in their two victories.
Rocori vs. Hutchinson, 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 13. No. 2-4A Hutchinson (2-0, 1-0) faces what figures to be its most difficult challenge of the season in Rocori (2-0, 1-0), winner of its season-opening games by a combined 53-12.
