Stangler Named head Coach

Jim Stangler has been named head coach of the Saint Agnes High School football program.

 

Stangler is no stranger to Saint Agnes. He was the Aggies offensive coordinator from 2001-2006. In 2005 the Aggies played in the section 4A championship game losing 23-19 to Goodhue.

 

Stangler, a graduate of Concordia University-Saint Paul has coached football the past 16 years. This is his first stint as a head coach.  He has been a varsity assistant at DeLaSalle, Centennial, Fridley and Saint Bernard’s. In 2009 he was offensive coordinator at Saint Bernard’s when they qualified for the Class A State Tournament.

 

“Coach Stangler brings a wealth of experience to the Saint Agnes football program” said athletic director Mike Streitz. “We are very excited about his return to our program” added Streitz.

 

Stangler played his high school football at Waterville-Elysian-Morristown where he played on 5 conference championship teams and 3 section championship teams. They were state champions in 1989.

 

In addition to coaching football he has been varsity assistant baseball coach at Champlin Park and Park Center High Schools.
