FOLEY — The mostly lush, green grass that covers the playing surface at DeRocher Field provides optimism that the Foley football team will once again be able to host true home games in September.
The team has played its home games at college stadiums for the past two years while the home field was replaced. An attempt to replace the field in 2010 failed when it turned out too hard and covered with rocks and divots for safety.
Superintendent Darrin Strosahl, standing on the freshly mown grass last week, was not ready to declare the field ready, but said he expects the Foley Falcons to be playing home games there this season.
