And the winner is...MN Football Hub defensive Top Performer revealed

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Football Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

Cade Mueller, Waconia. The senior linebacker led the Wildcats' defense in a 16-0 shutout of Chaska. He made 12 solo tackles (13 total), four tackles for a loss and one sack. 

Top performer candidates

Gabe Amore, DeLaSalle. Amore, who is tied for fifth in the state in total tackles (80), led the Islanders' defense in holding Park Center to just one field goal in a 21-3 win. The junior made 18 tackles, including 15 solo. 

Takoda Boyd, Spring Grove. The senior easily had his best defensive game of the year, nearly doubling his previous tackles total (nine). He made 17 total tackles in a 35-14 win over Houston. 

Kaleb Cornwell, Cedar Mountain-Comfrey. The senior snagged three interceptions and made seven tackles in a 55-20 victory over MACCRAY.

Derian Gerdes, Hawley. The junior led the Nuggets' stingy defense, which allowed just one touchdown midway through the fourth quarter of a 41-8 win over Frazee. Gerdes made 17 tackles, including two for a loss, and contributed to a sack. 

Ty Lipinski, Minneota. The senior defensive tackle made a season-high 11 tackles, including one for a loss, and two sacks in a 47-16 victory over Springfield.

Jack Mohler, East Ridge. Mohler had his best defensive game of the year, as he made three tackles for a loss and 17 total tackles in a 21-10 loss to Mounds View. The senior linebacker is tied for ninth in the state with 70 total tackles. 

Cade Mueller, Waconia. The senior linebacker led the Wildcats' defense in a 16-0 shutout of Chaska. He made 12 solo tackles (13 total), four tackles for a loss and one sack. 

Trevor Palesch, Wayzata. The senior linebacker tied his season high of 16 tackles (recorded Sept. 21 in a one-point loss to Eden Prairie) and added 2.5 sacks in a 17-14 win over Eastview. 

Tim Vorobyev, Zimmerman. Vorobyev led the Thunder defense and helped hold Albany scoreless in the second half. The junior linebacker made 13 tackles, including one for a loss, and forced a fumble in a 14-6 loss. 

Ian Ziebarth, Park Christian. The junior, who is tied for fourth in the state with 82 total tackles on the season, made 19 tackles and blocked a kick. The Falcons lost 52-10 to Wheaton-Herman-Norcross.
