Top performer winner

Corbin Leflay, Hastings. Leflay scored all three Raiders' touchdowns, racked up 235 rushing yards and averaged 26.8 yards (107 yards total) on four kick returns. Two of the senior running back's TDs came when the Raiders were trailing, including the  final one on an 11-yard run with 1:34 to play in the fourth quarter. It put the Raiders ahead for good, as they defeated Park of Cottage Grove 24-21.

Top performer candidates

Justin Bach, Chaska. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and had 252 passing yards while scoring one more TD the ground in the Hawks' 24-21 win over Chanhassen. Bach's second touchdown pass, a 76-yard connection, gave the Hawks a three-point lead with just 42 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

Aidan Bouman, Buffalo. In a game that won't soon be forgotten, Bouman accumulated 555 passing yards — which ties him with Hill-Murray's Brian Kaufman (2001 season) for the highest single-game passing total in Minnesota State High School League history — in an 80-70 lost to Elk River. The junior quarterback threw eight touchdowns — six in the second half — after the Bison trailed 18 points at halftime.

Jake Breitbach, Robbinsdale Armstrong. The junior quarterback averaged 11.4 yards per pass attempt and recorded career-highs in touchdowns (5) and passing yards (320) in a 41-37 victory over Hopkins. He added 50 yards on the ground.

Drey Dirksen, Willmar. Dirksen has already had an impressive season, averaging more than 300 total yards per game through the Cardinals' first three contests. In the team's most recent game, a 47-12 defeat of Princeton, the senior quarterback rushed for touchdowns of 74 and 42 yards and threw three more TDs while amassing 220 passing yards.

Jack Foster, Mankato West. The junior quarterback accumulated 343 total yards in his most productive outing of the season. In a 50-12 win over Rochester John Marshall, Foster finished with 99 yards and two TDs on nine carries and added 244 yards and four touchdowns on 23 pass attempts.

Nick Prentice, Orono. The senior quarterback used his arm to give the Spartans a 26-point, first-half lead, and then threw two more touchdowns in the third quarter as Orono rolled Richfield 51-14. Prentice finished the game with 286 passing yards.

Nate Trewick, St. Cloud Tech. The junior quarterback threw for a career-high 402 yards — averaging more than 10 yards per attempt — and had three touchdown passes in a 48-42 win over Moorhead. Trewick added a rushing TD and a successful two-point conversion to round out his scoring on the night.

Brady Williams, Dover-Eyota. The junior quarterback threw for 323 yards and three touchdowns, and ran for 69 yards in a 27-24 win over Lewiston-Altura.

Jason Williamson, Owatonna. The senior running back, a University of Minnesota commit, tallied 337 rushing yards and five touchdowns in the Huskies' 63-27 win over Austin.
