Top performer winner

Josh Buri, Stewartville. The sophomore scored a touchdown on one reception for 53 yards and averaged 15.4 yards per carry on 11 attempts — finishing with four rushing touchdowns — in a 56-7 rout of Lake City.

Top performer candidates

Jenson Beachy, Perham. The senior quarterback had a historic game against Detroit Lakes — finishing with 456 passing yards and landing himself at No. 4 on the Minnesota State High School League's single-game passing record list. Beachy also threw three touchdowns and added 40 yards on the ground in the Yellowjackets' 36-30 loss. Hill-Murray's Brian Kaufman holds the record with 555 passing yards, set in 2001.

Ethan Bosacker, Monticello. Though the teams traded the lead four times throughout the Magic's 54-35 loss to Elk River, the senior quarterback remained steady and brought his team within five points midway through the final quarter with a 50-yard TD pass. He ended the night throwing for 362 yards and four touchdowns.

Aidan Bouman, Buffalo. After the Bison gave up 21 first-quarter points, the junior quarterback nearly led his team to a comeback win and joined Perham's Beachy on the state's single-game records list. He accumulated 429 passing yards on 35 completions — including two for touchdowns — in a 29-28 loss to St. Francis. His passing yards are tied for eighth-best performance while this completions rank second. Kaufman also holds the record at 36 completions, set in 2001.

Josh Buri, Stewartville. The sophomore scored a touchdown on one reception for 53 yards and averaged 15.4 yards per carry on 11 attempts — finishing with four rushing touchdowns — in a 56-7 rout of Lake City.

Drey Dirksen, Willmar. The senior quarterback easily surpassed the impressive numbers he put up last week (214 passing yards, 5 TDs) with a 359-yard performance in a 42-28 loss to Hutchinson. Dirksen totaled 225 passing yards and threw two touchdowns. He had two more TDs and 134 yards on the ground.

Eli Fest, Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda. The sophomore started the game's scoring midway through the first quarter with a 1-yard TD run and had an answer for nearly every Red Rock Central touchdown, leading the Coyotes to a 30-29 win. Fest totaled 229 passing yards and had three touchdowns on 39 yards rushing.

Thomas Hennen, Minneota. As the Vikings defense stood tall to hold Dawson-Boyd scoreless, the senior quarterback took care of the offense in a dominant 47-0 win. Hennen threw two touchdowns and tallied 233 passing yards while rushing for two more TDs and 53 yards. He also returned a punt for 22 yards.

Bennett Otto, Champlin Park. The senior quarterback nearly doubled his passing yards from last week (202), as he amassed 387 yards and had two touchdown passes. Otto added 41 rushing yards in the Rebels' 21-0 win over Anoka.

Marshall Riedel, Brandon-Evansville. The junior running back averaged a whopping 24 yards per carry in a 54-15 win over Hillcrest Lutheran. Riedel had TD runs of 97 and 75 yards to help him finish the game with 264 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
