Undefeated no more, St. Paul Central has forfeited two games for use of an ineligible player.

The Minutemen, who started the season 6-0, retroactively forfeited victories against Minneapolis Southwest and Minneapolis North. Twin Cities District chair Eric Brever confirmed Monday that both games now count as Central losses. The nature of the eligibility issue was not disclosed.

A loss to North, a Class 1A program, is a big hit to Central’s section seed. Teams are rated by the QRF computer formula, which factors in strength of schedule. Central is a Class 5A program.

In addition, Southwest is in the Twin Cities Maroon subdistrict with Central. The Minutemen’s loss means they are now even with St. Paul Highland Park (3-1) atop the subdistrict standings.

Central plays at Highland Park at 5 p.m. on Oct. 9 in a game that could decide the inaugural subdistrict championship.

Minneapolis North moves to 6-0 this season.
