Lions remain undefeated by routing Breck 44-13

Despite the lack of a true home field, Providence Academy continued its march toward the best regular season in team history with a 44-13 rout of Breck Saturday.
The football stadium at the Plymouth school is undergoing reconstruction, so the Lions have been forced to play their home games on the school’s soccer field. Temporary bleachers and a small scoreboard were brought in, but no available lights have forced them to move their home games to Saturday afternoons.
Senior running back Ryan Richelson scored four first-half touchdowns – the second time he’s scored four in a game this season, giving him a metro-leadin 18 – and quarterback Henry Van Dellen threw an eight-yard touchdown pass to Patrick Condon as the Lions roared out to a 34-13 halftime lead.
Both of Breck’s touchdowns came on long passes from quarterback Graydon Krulick to receiver Bryce Johnson, but those two plays, which covered 53 and 63 yards respectively, were all the offense Breck could muster.
The only scoring in the second half came on a 48-yard touchdown run by Conor White and a 23-yard field goal into the teeth of a bitter wind by kicker Tanner Scott.
Providence improved to 6-0 for the first time in team history, justifying their No. 2-ranking in Class 3A. Breck fell to 3-3, with two of those losses to Providence.
