Rosemount will be looking to continue its recent success against Eastview when the two teams square off in Week 1 in a Class 6A state quarterfinal rematch from last season.
It will be an uphill climb for the Lightning in this one as they hope to get the season off to a good start. Eastview has won just 11 regular season games over the past three seasons but has stepped up in the playoffs to win two in each season.
The Irish, last year's runner up to Eden Prairie, return two key pieces to its offense in seniors quarterback Jackson Erdmann and all purpose player Dimitri Williams. Erdmann threw for 176 yards and a touchdown, and the versatile Williams was on the receiving end of the score and recorded a passing touchdown in the state quarterfinal triumph over Eastview. Williams and Erdmann are the reigning co-offensive players of the year in the South Suburban Conference.
