Behr

The 6-5, 230-pound son of former Gophers baseball player George Behr III is attracting high interest as a Division I tight end prospect.

How important is it to play college football? That’s been my goal for a long time, to play Division I football.

A lot of players with your size get recruited as offensive linemen. Why do you think you’ll succeed as a tight end? I’ve been told I’ve got a good body for a tight end. I know what it takes. Blocking is important, but I’ve also got the ability to catch like a wide receiver.

What makes your receiving skills stand out? I can catch the ball in traffic. I’m a big guy with big hands, so that helps. And I can create separation.

What schools have you heard from? I’ve been in close contact with the U of M. Rutgers has shown high interest. I’ve received mail from Pitt, Iowa State, Michigan State, Central Michigan, North Dakota State, North Dakota and all of the local schools.

Is there a favorite? I don’t picture myself with any one team. Hopefully this summer, something will spur my interest.

Which school has been the most persistent? The U of M has been pretty consistent. I’ve stayed in contact with the coaches. I’ve met Coach Kill. He’s a great guy.

Is there a timeline for making a decision? No. It depends on how things play out this year.
