John Rumpza scores big as Blooming Prairie relies on its passing game to grab the win, grows winning streak to 6 games

John Rumpza proved invaluable to Blooming Prairie connecting in the air for six touchdowns.

Blooming Prairie defeated New Ulm Cathedral 49 to 26 at New Ulm Cathedral in New Ulm on Wednesday. Blooming Prairie tallied up 7 straight points to jump in to the lead in the first quarter. Both teams tallied up 14 points in the second quarter but Blooming Prairie held on to the lead. The half ended with Blooming Prairie ahead 21 to 14. In the third quarter Blooming Prairie scored 21 unanswered points to keep in the lead. In the last quarter New Ulm Cathedral outscored their opponents by 5 points however Blooming Prairie kept its lead, and won the game.

In offense Blooming Prairie ruled on the ground and in the air. Having a huge impact in the air, John Rumpza went 13 for 23 passing for 265 yards. On the receiving end Michael Thomas nabbed four receptions for 122 yards and had two touchdown grabs. Causing trouble for the New Ulm Cathedral defense, Jake Decker scrambled down the field for 71 yards on 16 carries.

The New Ulm Cathedral offense was outclassed.

Blooming Prairie continued their current win streak of five games and now has a record of 7 wins and 1 loss. New Ulm Cathedral finished the game with a record of 2-2.
