Red Lake Loses In Shutout To Carlton 47-0

Carlton relies on its secondary to win decisively

In a shutout, Carlton prevailed over Red Lake 47 to 0 at Red Lake HS on Wednesday. Carlton tallied up 14 straight points to take the lead in the first quarter. Carlton added 21 straight points in the second quarter and held on to its lead. The first half closed with Carlton up 35 to 0. Carlton's defense shut down Red Lake for the rest of the game. In the third quarter Carlton scored 12 points to keep in the lead. With both teams scoreless in the fourth quarter, Carlton held on to its lead, and was the winner.

In the first quarter, Carlton put points on the board when Mike Moralez punched through the defense 20 yards to the goal line for a touchdown. Carlton never lost the lead after that. Rolling on, Carlton's Alex Tackett plowed ahead 8 yards for a touchdown. In the second quarter, pushing forward, Carlton's Tackett did it again and plowed forward 10 yards into the end zone yet again. Carlton turned up the pressure when Dominic Bennett left defenders in the dust, running 47 yards going the distance for a touchdown. Carlton fired up their running game when Erik Adams took the ball running 3 yards for a TD. In the third quarter, following on, Josh Dahlman of Carlton ran for a 21 yard touchdown after recovering a fumble. Carlton kept up the momentum when Erik Adams ran 19 yards for a TD.

Rushing was key to Carlton's victory. Showing an incredible performance, Dominic Bennett scrambled down the field six times for a combined 146 yards. Bennett got over the goal line once.

Red Lake came up short on offense.

The Carlton defense contributed to the victory, and kept the pressure up with 2 sacks. They forced two fumbles and recovered two fumbles. They picked off Red Lake twice.

Carlton ended their losing streak of two games and improved to a record of 2-2. Red Lake finished the game with a record of 0-3.
