Farmington grabs 10 point lead in 1st quarter, goes on to win

Farmington handed a loss to Holy Angels 41 to 28 at Farmington High School in Farmington on Friday. Farmington scored 10 points to jump in to the lead in the first quarter. In the second quarter Farmington outscored Holy Angels 14 to 7 and kept the lead. Halftime saw Farmington on top 24 to 7. In the third quarter Farmington scored 14 unanswered points to keep in the lead. In the last quarter Holy Angels outscored their opponents however Farmington kept its lead, and won the game.

In the first quarter, Reid Taubenheim nailed a 20 yard field goal for Farmington. Farmington was in control from then on. Piling on, Darren Beenken danced forward 12 yards scoring a touchdown. In the second quarter, then Derek Klotter ran forward for a TD. Holy Angels replied when Sam Keis aired out a 43 yard pass to Wallace Hicks for a touchdown. However then Farmington's Jordan DeCroock launched a 57 yard pass to John Dittman for a touchdown. In the third quarter, Farmington pierced the defense when Derek Klotter ran the ball 2 yards for a touchdown. Farmington turned up the pressure when Noah Kary rushed with the ball into the end zone. In the fourth quarter, in return, Holy Angels's Sam Keis drilled a 12 yard pass to Jordan Dembley for a score. Holy Angels fired up the air game when Keis found the end zone again with a 14 yard pass to Jordan Dembley good for a TD. However then Reid Taubenheim was good for a huge 42 yard field goal for Farmington. Holy Angels answered back when Sam Keis drilled a 25 yard pass to Jordan Dembley for a touchdown.

Farmington led the way on rushes. Unstoppable on the run, Derek Klotter carried the ball 34 times for a total of 140 yards. Klotter ran for a TD twice. Darren Beenken went 8 for 11 passing for 128 yards. Beenken also threw an interception. On the receiving end John Dittman nabbed four receptions for 97 yards and had one touchdown grab. Reid Taubenheim was perfect kicking two field goals, out of 2.0 attempted.

Though not enough to win, Holy Angels's passing game was superior. Trying make a mark in the air, Sam Keis threw for 240 yards with 14 of 24 passes completed. Keis was picked off once. Jordan Dembley made six grabs for 111 total yards and scored on three touchdown passes. Sam Keis also rushed for 65 yards with 14 carries.

The Farmington defense contributed to the victory, holding Holy Angels to 148 yards rushing and 240 passing, and kept the pressure up with one sack. They picked off Holy Angels once.

Holy Angels ended the game with a record of 4-3.
