John Rumpza leads the way as Blooming Prairie smokes opponent's secondary for a win

John Rumpza proved invaluable to Blooming Prairie throwing for five touchdowns.

Blooming Prairie beat Minnesota Valley Lutheran 54 to 28 at McFarlin Field in Blooming Prairie on Friday. Minnesota Valley Lutheran outscored Blooming Prairie 14 to 7 to take the lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter Blooming Prairie outscored Minnesota Valley Lutheran 18 to 6 and jumped in to the lead. The first half closed with Blooming Prairie on top 25 to 20. Minnesota Valley Lutheran matched Minnesota Valley Lutheran with 8 points in the third quarter and clinging to its lead. Blooming Prairie scored 21 points in the fourth quarter improving its score and winning the game.

The Blooming Prairie offense led the way in passing and rushing. Showing off a strong arm, John Rumpza went 19 for 29 passing for 350 yards. Michael Thomas caught five receptions for 132 yards and had three touchdown grabs. Making a stand out effort, Scott Romeo carried the ball ahead 12 times for a total of 61 yards. Romeo scored a touchdown once.

The Blooming Prairie offense got some help from special teams, who scored one touchdown. Michael Thomas ran a punt all the way back for a TD.

The Minnesota Valley Lutheran offense was outclassed.

Blooming Prairie ended the game with a record of 3-1.
