Wheaton got the better of Ashby 52 to 28 at Wheaton High School in Wheaton on Friday. Neither team managed to get on the scoreboard in the first quarter. Both defenses held strong to shut down scoring in the second quarter. The defensive shutout also continued through the 3rd quarter. In the fourth quarter, the ice was finally broken when Wheaton scored 52 points to Ashby's 28 and took the lead to claim the late win.
The Ashby offense was outclassed. Nevertheless putting on a great air show, Blake Ohren connected for 290 yards with 23 of 39 passes completed. Ohren was intercepted once. Reed Hanson made 7 grabs for 151 total yards and caught three touchdown passes. Blake Ohren also rushed for 83 yards with 20 carries. Ohren ran for a TD.
Wheaton ended the game with a record of 2-0. Ashby finished the game with a record of 1 and 2.
