Blooming Prairie defends against the pass to win decisively

Shutting out their opponents, Blooming Prairie beat United South Central 39 to 0 at McFarlin Field in Blooming Prairie on Friday. Blooming Prairie tallied up 13 unanswered points to jump in to the lead in the first quarter. Blooming Prairie gained 20 points in the second quarter and held on to its lead. The half ended with Blooming Prairie on top 33 to 0. The Blooming Prairie defense took over in the second half. In the third quarter Blooming Prairie scored 6 points to keep in the lead. With both teams scoreless in the fourth quarter, Blooming Prairie held on to its lead, and was the winner.

Blooming Prairie's offense was superior on the ground and in the air. Racking up yards in the air, John Rumpza went 13 for 20 passing for 167 yards. In receiving, Hunter Rudlong picked up five passes for 68 yards and had one touchdown grab. Undeterred by the United South Central defense, Scott Romeo scrambled through the defense for 72 yards on 10 carries.

The Blooming Prairie offense got some help from special teams, who scored one touchdown. Michael Thomas ran a punt all the way back for a TD.

United South Central's offense could not get the job done.
