Backer, from Chatfield, has rushed for 7,045 yards and needs 458 more to equal a state mark.

Chatfield back Sam Backer is 458 yards short of the state record for career rushing yards.

The football state semifinals go on all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday at U.S. Bank Stadium.
