And the winner is...MN Football Hub offensive top performer revealed

Top performer winner

Noah Strickfaden, Norwood Young America. The Raiders put up a season-high 60 points in their season-ending game, handily defeating Le Sueur-Henderson. Strickfaden led the Raiders’ offensive charge, throwing for 271 yards and five TDs. Strickfaden added a rushing score as well in the 60-17 win. 

Top performer candidates

Cole Hentges, Sartell-St. Stephen. The quarterback led the Sabres to a season-high 46 points in their win over Bemidji on Oct. 19. Hentges had an impressive game to close out the regular season, falling just shy of 500 all-purpose yards in the 46-7 win. The senior completed 14 passes for 401 yards and five touchdowns, including three for over 50 yards, and added 53 yards on the ground and one 42-yard punt return.

Tate Link, Dassel-Cokato. Link sits in the top three spots in the state for most carries (221), rushing yards (1,690) and rushing touchdowns (27) this season. The senior running back had a season-high 38 carries in the Chargers’ 33-29 victory at New London-Spicer on Oct. 19, recording five touchdowns behind 247 rushing yards. 

Barton McAninch, Mankato West. The junior quarterback led the Scarlets’ 54-0 rout of crosstown rival Mankato East on Oct. 19, helping the Scarlets score over 40 points for the fifth time this season and finish the regular season undefeated. McAninch completed 14 of 20 passes, totaling a season-high 296 passing yards and seven TDs.

Max McEnelly, Waconia. The senior running back has been giving opposing defenses trouble all season and that didn’t stop in the Wildcats’ 64-14 win at Holy Angels on Oct. 19. McEnelly made the most of his 12 carries, scoring touchdowns on six of them and accumulating 230 rushing yards. He recorded five first-half TDs, all between 10 and 34 yards, and scored his final one on a 60-yard run 18 seconds into the second half. McEnelly is tied for most rushing TDs this season (27) and is third most in rushing yards with 1,639. 

Landyn Nelson, Andover. The Huskies ended their season with their best offensive performance of the season, taking down Cambridge-Isanti 70-14. The senior quarterback, who's averaged three touchdowns and over 250 all-purpose yards per game, recorded five touchdowns in the win, three through the air and two on the ground. Nelson totaled 220 passing yards and 98 rushing yards and also went 6 of 6 in extra point attempts.

MJ Newton, Fridley. The Tigers posted their third straight game scoring over 40 points, thanks in part to their senior quarterback. Newton scored the first two touchdowns of the game on 40 and 70-yard runs in the first 15 minutes of the game. Newton recorded his third touchdown, a 43-yard pass completion, in the third quarter. He totaled 107 passing yards on eight completions and 143 rushing yards in the 47-0 victory against Columbia Heights.

Caden Rodkewich, St. Anthony. The senior quarterback is leading the state in pass completions (147), passing yards (2,194), and passing touchdowns (26) through the regular season. The Huskies’ 66-8 rout of Brooklyn Center/Parnassus Prep on Oct. 19 was Rodkewich’s third game of the season throwing for over 350 yards. He completed 17 passes for 358 yards in the win, tossing seven TD passes. He added another touchdown on the ground, recording 58 rushing yards on four carries.

Noah Strickfaden, Norwood Young America. The Raiders put up a season-high 60 points in their season-ending game, handily defeating Le Sueur-Henderson. Strickfaden led the Raiders’ offensive charge, throwing for 271 yards and five TDs. Strickfaden added a rushing score as well in the 60-17 win. 

Nick Walter, Annandale. The Cardinals recorded their third consecutive victory on Oct. 19, a 35-6 win at Litchfield. Walter threw nine passes for 227 yards, throwing three first-half TD passes, including a 79-yard completion less than one minute into the game. The junior quarterback added a 38-yard rushing score less than a minute into the second quarter.

Tanner Zolnosky, East Ridge. The junior quarterback led a come-from-behind victory against St. Michael-Albertville on Oct. 19. Trailing by 23, the Raptors scored four unanswered TDs to secure a 27-23 win. Zolnosky tallied his fourth game this season with over 300 passing yards, completing 18 passes for 309 yards and three TDs.
