Waconia uses offensive explosion against Holy Angels

If momentum exists in sports, Waconia’s run-heavy offense has it as the schedule flips to section tournament time.

The Wildcats could not miss in a 64-14 win at Holy Angels (5-3) in the regular season final on Wednesday. The offense scored touchdowns on its first nine drives, pushing the score to 44-7 at halftime and continuing the momentum into the second half.

First Report

Waconia wrapped up its regular season with an unforgettable performance by its offense on Wednesday in a road game with Academy of Holy Angels.

The offense scored on its first nine drives of the game in a 64-14 win against the Stars. Waconia (6-2) running back Max McEnelly scored six touchdowns to go along with more than 230 yards rushing yards. The second half of the Wildcats’ talented running duo, Alex Riley, also finished with three touchdowns and 180 yards on the ground.

The Stars (5-3) scored their first touchdown of the game on a touchdown pass from quarterback Aaron Boarman to Charles Gilbert III. Gilbert also scored a rushing touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
