And the winner is...MN Football Hub defensive top performer revealed

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Football Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

Jack Lachmiller, Elk River. The senior had a solid defensive game as the Elks defeated Moorhead 55-21. In addition to six total tackles, including one for a loss, Lachmiller made two sacks, forced a fumble and recovered two fumbles in the win.

Top performer candidates

Jaylen Boehm-Peterson, Holy Angels. The Stars kept St. Louis Park off the board for nearly the entire game, allowing just one touchdown in the fourth quarter. Boehm-Peterson led the Stars on defense as the senior made 10 solo tackles and 12 total tackles, including one for a loss. He also forced a fumble and grabbed an interception as the Stars won 34-8.

Bryan Cassellius, Winona. The Winhawks defense held Faribault scoreless on Oct. 7, extending their winning streak to four games and shutting out an opponent for the third time this season. Cassellius led Winona with 10 total tackles, including one for a loss, and grabbed an interception — his third of the season — in the 22-0 victory.

Max Johnson, Maple Grove. The Crimson rolled to their sixth straight win last week to remain undefeated on the season. The senior had a breakout game, making nearly double the amount of tackles as his previous high this season. Johnson totaled 11 solo tackles and 15 total tackles, including three for a loss, and also recorded a sack as the Crimson defeated Wayzata 28-21.

Jack Lachmiller, Elk River. The senior had a solid defensive game as the Elks defeated Moorhead 55-21. In addition to six total tackles, including one for a loss, Lachmiller made two sacks, forced a fumble and recovered two fumbles in the win.

Owen McCloud, Lakeville South. After trading off the lead five times in the game and trailing by three points mid-way trough the fourth quarter, the Cougars got the lead back with less than four minutes left in the fourth quarter to win 21-17 against Prior Lake. The senior linebacker amassed an impressive 20 total tackles in the win to lead the Cougars.

Rhett Mundt, Deer River. The Warriors extended their winning streak to six games after defeating Barnum 38-14 on Oct. 7. Mundt added to the scoreboard for the Warriors, recovering two fumbles, one of which he returned 11 yards for a touchdown. He also made eight total tackles.

Landon O’Neil, Eastview. The junior’s eyes were locked on the ball against Burnsville as he forced a fumble, recovered a fumble, made a sack and added six tackles, including one for a loss. The Lightning defeated Burnsville 27-21.

Brody Rindelaub, SMB. The Wolfpack shut out an opponent for the second time this season as they defeated Richfield 24-0. The senior linebacker led the Wolfpack’s solid defense with 10 total tackles, including one for a loss, and a sack.

Samuel Rummel, Springfield. The junior had arguably his best game of the year in the Tigers’ Oct. 7 win. Rummel made 13 total tackles, including two for a loss, and 1.5 sacks in the 22-0 victory at Sleepy Eye.

Kaleb Weikel, Andover. After allowing an early touchdown, the Huskies scored 52 consecutive points against Coon Rapids. The Huskies were led on defense by Weikel, as the sophomore linebacker made five tackles for a loss and 10 total tackles. He also recorded one sack, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble as the Huskies won 52-19.
