And the winner is...MN Football Hub offensive top performer revealed

Top performer winner

Caden Spence, Zimmerman. The running back recorded three touchdowns in the Thunder’s 41-13 victory against Annandale on Sept. 1. Spence broke a 6-6 tie in the second quarter with a 60-yard touchdown reception, and added a 94-yard rushing TD to secure a 26-6 lead into halftime. In the third quarter, Spence sprinted into the end zone for his second rushing TD, a 58-yard run. The senior gained 190 yards on 10 carries, and finished with 70 yards receiving on two catches.  

Top performer candidates

Grady Guida, Buffalo. The Bison piled all of their offensive output into the first half of their Sept. 2 game at Monticello. Buffalo notched three touchdowns in the opening frame, all coming from the arm of their junior quarterback. In addition to the three TD's, Guida finished 18 of 27 for 205 yards to lead the Bison to a 22-20 victory. 

Jack Klein, Sauk Rapids-Rice. The senior quarterback led the Storm to a 20-12 victory against Sartell-St. Stephen on Sept. 2, recording nearly 250 total yards. Klein was a threat both in the air and on the ground, throwing for 136 yards and two touchdowns and gaining another 106 yards on the ground, which included another score. 

Jamen Malone, Robbinsdale Armstrong. The Falcons jumped out to a 21-0 lead at halftime against Waconia on Sept. 1 behind the arm of their senior quarterback. Malone threw three first-half touchdowns, including a 98-yard toss to receiver Marquan Tucker to score the game's first points. Malone added a fourth TD in the fourth quarter, racking up 307 yards through the air in Robbinsdale Armstrong's 35-14 win.

Finn McElroy, Edina. The senior quarterback played an impressive game despite a 34-21 loss to Minnetonka on Sept. 1. McElroy amassed 349 passing yards, and completed 29 passes to go along with two touchdowns for the Hornets.   

Landyn Nelson, Andover. Nelson has the Huskies off to a commanding start this season, totaling 52 points in the team's season-opening win against Brainerd. The senior quarterback recorded a 77% pass completion rate, finishing 24 of 31 for a staggering 428 yards — one of the highest totals in a single game thus far this season, averaging nearly 14 yards per attempt. Nelson threw five touchdowns to three different receivers, with four of the scores over 45 yards. 

Chisum Schmiedeberg, Kittson County Central. The Bearcats rolled to a decisive 56-6 victory over Park Christian on Sept. 2. Kittson County Central got nine players in on the rushing game action, but most often handed the ball to Schmiedeberg. The senior back rushed for 203 yards on just 14 carries and found the end zone four times. Averaging 14.5 yards per carry, Schmiedeberg added a fifth touchdown on a 50-yard punt return. 

Milos Spasojevic, Minnetonka. The junior quarterback helped the Skippers erase a 14-point deficit against Edina on Sept. 1, tallying four consecutive touchdowns. Spasojevic completed 15 passes for 241 yards, including a 42-yard score to get the Skippers on the board in the second quarter on their way to a 34-21 win.

Reese Turner, Chaska. The Hawks earned a season-opening 35-7 home win against Bloomington Jefferson on Sept. 2, led by Turner’s three touchdowns. The senior running back was handed the ball 22 times and recorded 213 yards, averaging nearly 10 yards per carry. Turner snuck a 1-yard run in for the game's first score mid-way through the first quarter. He recorded two more TD's in the third quarter — a 72-yard carry followed by another short gain less than three minutes later.

Rai’Shaun Wade, Minneapolis South. Wade came up big right when the Tigers needed it. Trailing by a touchdown to Columbia Heights in the fourth quarter, Wade scored Minneapolis South's only two TD's to secure the 12-7 win. The senior running back tallied a 46-yard rushing TD, and followed that with a 17-yard score less than five minutes later.  Wade averaged nearly 13 yards per carry, finishing with 141 yards on the ground on 11 carries.
