Leave it for snowflakes to fall for Kasson-Mantorville to start airing it out.

The powerful run-option team did its usual thing on the ground, but the KoMets connected for three touchdown passes on a cold, windy night to thrash Fridley 42-7 on Thursday at Lakeville South High School.

“I just think we’re playing as a team. You can’t be selfish in the option game because teams are going to take away parts of it,” Kasson-Mantorville coach Joel Swanson said. “They took away things and some of our receivers have been pretty patient throughout and things opened up for them. That’s what you’ve got to do, and your blocking sets that up.”

It was a defensive stalemate as the KoMets (8-3) were held under 20 yards and were outgained in a scoreless first quarter.
