First report

A steady performance by Jack Boyle and the Chaska offense led the way in a 17-0 win over Waconia in the Class 5A, Section 2 semifinals on Saturday.

The Hawks' typically run-heavy offense used timely passes to take a 10-0 lead after their first two possessions. Tight end Andrew Schaffer scored on a 33-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Brayden Sanders, followed by a 32-yard field goal from kicker Nolan Kemp.

Boyle, who rushed for 152 yards, added a 2-yard touchdown run with less than four minutes left in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach for the second-seeded Hawks.

Max McEnelly rushed for 116 yards to lead sixth-seeded Waconia.

Chaska advances to the section championship on Nov. 5, when the Hawks face the winner of the other semifinal featuring top-seeded Mankato West and No. 4 seed New Prague for a berth in the Class 5A state tournament.
