And the winner is...MN Football Hub defensive top performer revealed

See who fans voted as the top performer from Oct. 7-9.

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Football Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

Brock Snow, Zimmerman. The Thunder rolled on to their fifth consecutive win, with the junior linebacker leading the defense with 12 total tackles, including two for a loss. The Thunder defeated Little Falls 41-14 on Oct. 8.

Top performer candidates

Jacob Anderson, Maple Grove. The junior doubled up on his highest total tackles output from earlier in the season, making 12 total tackles in the Crimson's 21-3 victory against Wayzata on Oct. 8. Anderson added a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and an interception.

Guinahi Douhe, Fridley. The Tigers' defense allowed a season-low seven points on Oct. 8 as they defeated St. Paul Johnson 49-7. The junior made 10 solo tackles and 14 total tackles, including two for a loss, in the win.

Blake Helland, Irondale. The senior linebacker, tied for seventh in the state with 67 total tackles this season, tallied 18 of that total last week in the Knights’ 28-21 victory at Cretin-Derham Hall. Helland recorded 13 solo tackles and three tackles for a loss. 

Nolan Israelson, Andover. The junior linebacker backed the Huskies’ win as they extended their undefeated streak this season to six games. Israelson made 10 total tackles, including two for a loss and one sack, and forced a fumble as the Huskies defeated Coon Rapids 49-13.

Owen McCloud, Lakeville South. The Cougars extended their winning streak to six games, having given up no more than 14 points this season. The junior led the Cougars’ defense, making a season-high 15 total tackles, as they defeated Prior Lake 25-13.

Bode Nyen, Chanhassen. The Storm held Waconia scoreless on Oct. 8, thanks to a strong defense. Nyen had his best game of the season, leading the Storm defense with four sacks and nine total tackles, including five for a loss. The Storm won 27-0.

Joey Stolpestad, SMB. The junior linebacker led he Wolfpack’s defense on Oct. 8, making 11 total tackles, including three for a loss. He added a defensive touchdown, grabbing his first interception of the season and returning it for a touchdown as the Wolfpack won 56-35 at Richfield.

Mattix Swanson, Willmar. The Cardinals held Rocori to a single touchdown on Oct. 8, allowing their only touchdown in the fourth quarter. Swanson led the defense, making 15 total tackles, including one for a loss, as the Cardinals won 24-8.

Bret Worley, Minnetonka. The senior linebacker led the Skippers’ defense in their 41-8 win at Totino-Grace. Worley made nine total tackles, including four for a loss, and two sacks.
