Top performer winner

William Richman, Minnetonka. The senior linebacker bolstered the Skippers' defense in their Oct. 1 victory against St. Michael-Albertville as he recorded a season-high 13 solo tackles and 18 total tackles. The Skippers won 23-20.

Top performer candidates

Ryan Bercich, Holy Angels. The Stars allowed a season-low three points last week against Benilde-St. Margaret’s — an impressive outcome given the offensive battle between the two teams in recent years. Bercich led the Stars’ defense, making 11 total tackles, including four for a loss, as the Stars won 35-3.

Caleb Dupaul, St. Paul Como Park. The Cougars earned a victory while holding St. Paul Highland Park scoreless on Oct. 2, thanks in part to Dupaul. The senior linebacker scored a defensive touchdown, returning one of his two interceptions on the night 75 yards. Dupaul also made five tackles as the Cougars won 22-0.

Konner Harpestad, United South Central. The senior linebacker — who has tallied at least 12 total tackles in each of his first four games this season — recorded a season-high 17 tackles in the Rebels’ 42-14 victory against Cleveland on Oct. 1. Harpestad also grabbed two interceptions in the win — his first of the season.

Jacob Lind, Blaine. A week after being on the wrong end of a shutout, the Bengals handed Totino-Grace to the same fate in a 10-0 victory. Lind led the Bengals' defense with 10 total tackles, including one for a loss.

Nate Litke, Spring Lake Park. The Panthers nearly recorded their first shutout of the season, keeping Mahtomedi from the end zone until late in the fourth quarter. Litke led the Panthers’ defense, making seven solo tackles and 13 total tackles. The Panthers won 35-7.

Aiden McMahon, Maple Grove. McMahon and the Crimson bounced back from their first loss of the season a week ago to hand Champlin Park a loss in convincing fashion. The senior linebacker made 13 tackles, including four for a loss, and forced a fumble in the 48-15 win.

Braxton Munnikhuysen, Triton. The senior played a big part in the Cobras’ 22-20 victory at St. Charles on Oct. 1, making an impact on defense in addition to scoring two offensive touchdowns. Munnikhuysen made 10 total tackles, including two for a loss. He also forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.

Jaylin Reese, East Ridge. The Raptors eked out a win at Woodbury on Oct. 1, the junior linebacker making 11 solo tackles, including two for a loss. Reese added a sack and forced a fumble to lead the Raptors’ defense as they won 15-14.

William Richman, Minnetonka. The senior linebacker bolstered the Skippers' defense in their Oct. 1 victory against St. Michael-Albertville as he recorded a season-high 13 solo tackles and 18 total tackles. The Skippers won 23-20.

Jayce Walrath, Sauk Rapids-Rice. The Storm remain undefeated through five games with their latest win a 21-6 defeat of Bemidji. Walrath led the Storm defense, who didn’t allow Bemidji any points following a first-quarter touchdown, with10 solo tackles, 13 total tackles, and one for a loss. He also forced a fumble and recorded a fumble recovery in the win.
