And the winner is...MN Football Hub offensive top performer revealed

Top performer winner

Jonathan Hackett, Columbia Heights. The senior made some big plays to lead the Hylanders to a 58-22 victory against Minneapolis Henry on Sept. 24. Hackett took eight carries for 145 yards, averaging over 18 yards per carry. He recorded four rushing touchdowns, including a 54-yard score late in the first quarter and a 30-yard touchdown mid-way through the third quarter. Hackett took two kick returns for the Hylanders, adding 111 yards to his game total, including 80 yards on a return which he brought back for a touchdown late in the third quarter.

Top performer candidates

Evan Bearth, Park of Cottage Grove. The senior quarterback led the Wolfpack’s 45-7 rout of Hopkins on Sept. 24. He completed 14 passes for 200 yards and threw three touchdown passes, including his final one for 70 yards. He also had eight carries for two rushing touchdowns. Bearth sits in the top five in the state with 76 completions this season and 12 passing touchdowns.

Collin Bonow, Lewison-Altura. Bonow added to his team-leading rushing numbers as the Cardinals defeated Caledonia 21-14 on Sept. 24. The senior rushed for 211 yards on 21 carries, increasing his season total to 457 yards. He recorded three touchdowns, including a 59-yard carry in the first quarter.

Carter Bursinger, Minneapolis South. The sophomore led the Tigers to an 18-15 victory at St. Paul Harding/Humboldt on Sept. 23. Bursinger scored a rushing touchdown in the second quarter then converted on his only extra point attempt of the game in the third quarter to tie the score. In the fourth quarter, Bursinger completed a 25-yard field goal to give the Tigers the win.

Nick Bushlack, United South Central. The Rebels defeated Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons 55-0 on Sept. 25, led by their junior quarterback. Bushlack completed seven passes for 238 yards and threw four touchdown passes, including an 89-yard completion early in the second quarter.

Connor Develice, Andover. The Huskies extended their winning streak to four games and recorded their third 40-plus point game of the season, led by the senior quarterback's strong first half. Develice had a season-high 76% pass completion, going 19-for-25 for 260 yards and three touchdowns, including a game-high 50-yard touchdown late in the first quarter. He added a pair of rushing touchdowns on 36 yards. The Huskies defeated St. Francis 49-21.

Colton Hackel, Perham. The senior accounted for all of the Yellowjackets’ touchdowns on Sept. 24, leading the team to a 30-27 victory against Detroit Lakes. The quarterback took a team-high 28 carries for 175 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 6.2 yards per carry. Hackel added one more touchdown through the air and 113 passing yards.

Logan King, Litchfield. The senior quarterback led the Dragons with over 300 total yards on Sept. 25 as the Dragons defeated St. Cloud Cathedral 50-20. King scored a 51-yard rushing touchdown, taking 17 carries for 148 yards. He also threw for 162 yards and three touchdowns, including back-to-back scores early in the second quarter and his final one for 43 yards.

Ethan Petersen, Academy Force. The Eagles earned their first win of the season on Sept. 24, defeating Concordia Academy 38-23. The junior quarterback recorded five touchdowns, starting the game’s scoring with a four-yard rushing touchdown. He amassed a season-high 303 passing yards, recording his final four touchdowns on passes, including two over 40 yards.

Jack Spanier, Rocori. The junior quarterback ranks in the top six in the state with 73 completions and 929 passing yards. He stood out in the passing game, completing 72.4% of his passes, going 21-for-29 and throwing for 307 yards and six touchdowns. The Spartans defeated Chisago Lakes 40-21.
