And the winner is...MN Football Hub offensive top performer revealed

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Football Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winners

Emmett Johnson, Holy Angels. The running back is having a stellar senior season, leading the state through three games with 705 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. He accounted for over half of those yards during the Stars’ Sept. 17 victory at South St. Paul, taking 38 carries for 360 yards and all five of the Stars’ touchdowns in the 35-26 win.

Kendall Stadden, Blaine. The junior kicker made her second game-winning kick of the season on Sept. 17 to give the Bengals another last-minute win. After completing a 31-yard field goal to win the game with no time remaining two weeks ago, Stadden kicked a 36-yard field goal for the only first-quarter points last week. She then was a perfect 3-for-3 in extra points, including her final one with 20 seconds remaining in the game to give the Bengals the one-point lead and defeat Champlin Park 26-25.

Top performer candidates

PJ Bono, Elk River. Despite the Elks scoring 68 points in last week's win, Bono was the only player to record multiple touchdowns. The junior opened the game’s scoring with a 50-yard touchdown run and added a pair of two-yard TDs in the second quarter before recording his final touchdown — a 96-yard kickoff return — as the final score of the first half. The Elks won 68-33.

Zander Dittbenner, Mankato West. The senior quarterback led the Scarlets’ 42-point rout of Owatonna on Sept. 17, completing 12 passes for 200 yards and four touchdown passes to four different receivers. Dittbenner added 66 rushing yards on seven carries, scoring a rushing TD. The Scarlets won 42-0.

Carson Hansen, Lakeville South. The Cougars defeated Eden Prairie 42-7 on Sept. 17, led by the junior running back. Hansen recorded his first touchdown of the game, a 13-yard reception, early in the second quarter to give the Cougars a 14-point lead. He then recorded three rushing touchdowns in the second half, completing two 64-yard touchdowns and one for 10 yards. Hansen accumulated 202 rushing yards on 16 carries and two receptions for 20 yards.

Dominic Jackson, Shakopee. The Sabers put up their third consecutive game with 45 or more points, defeating Farmington 63-20 on Sept. 17. Six Sabers tallied at least one touchdown, led by Jackson's 234 total yards. The junior quarterback threw for three touchdowns on 121 passing yards. He also had 113 rushing yards, with 12 carries for an average of 9.4 yards per carry, and three rushing touchdowns.

 Jacob Kilzer, Maple Grove. The junior quarterback led the Crimson to their third consecutive win as they defeated Minnetonka 35-7 on Sept. 17. Kilzer tallied five touchdowns in the game, including two passing touchdowns, as he threw for 145 yards on nine passes. He added 81 yards on 10 carries for three rushing TDs. 

Dominic Mathies, Sauk Rapids-Rice. The senior quarterback racked up over 300 yards and posted an 80 percent pass completion rate to lead the Storm to a 27-13 victory against Alexandria. Mathies went 16-for-20, throwing for 281 yards and a 35-yard touchdown. He added 50 yards on the ground, completing three rushing touchdowns.

MJ Newton, Fridley. The junior quarterback amassed nearly 400 yards passing and rushing in the Tigers' 34-12 victory at St. Anthony. Newton completed 17 passes for 197 yards and a 52-yard touchdown pass. He also had 183 rushing yards and touchdowns of 49, 35 and 10 yards.

Charlie Ryks, Breck. The senior quarterback led the Mustangs’ 52-point offensive outburst against Concordia Academy on Sept. 17, accumulating over 300 total yards. Ryks threw for 297 yards and five touchdowns, going 17-for-25. Ryks added three carries and a 35-yard rushing touchdown. The Mustangs won 52-9.
