Quarterback Kilzer accounts for five first-half touchdowns

Junior quarterback Jacob Kilzer directed Maple Grove, ranked No. 7 in the Metro Top 10, to a 35-7 victory over No. 8 Minnetonka on Friday at Maple Grove.
The teams played a scoreless second half after Kilzer ran for three touchdowns and threw two touchdown passes in the first half.
The Crimson, which improved to 3-0, has outscored its opponents 140-32. In the Crimson’s first two games, Kilzer passed for 294 yards and two touchdowns without an interception.
The Skippers (2-1) had given up just 10 points in their first two games.
Becker 21, Chisago Lakes 14: Ryan Bengston threw two touchdown passes to lead the Bulldogs, ranked No. 2 in Class 4A, past the host Wildcats. Becker (3-0) plays host to Hutchinson, ranked No. 1 in Class 4A, next Friday. Hutchinson was idle on Friday. 
Blaine 26, Champlin Park 25: The host Bengals scored 23 points in the fourth quarter — 16 in the final 2:10 — to rally for the victory over the Rebels. A.J. Kaul ran for a touchdown and threw a touchdown pass in the the Bengals’ late really. Kaul’s 1-yard TD run and Kendall Stadden’s PAT with 2:10 remaining pulled the Bengals within 25-17. On Champlin Park’s ensuing possession, the Bengals forced a safety to make it 25-19 with 1:45 remaining. After the free kick, Kaul teamed with Preston Meyers for a 13-yard TD pass to tie the game with 20 seconds remaining, and Stadden made the PAT. Stadden’s 36-yard field goal in the first quarter gave the Bengals a 3-0 lead before the Rebels scored 25 consecutive points to take a 25-3 lead in the third quarter.
Holy Angels 35, South St. Paul 26: Emmett Johnson rushed for 362 yards and five touchdowns to help the Stars outlast the host Packers. After the Packers pulled within 28-26 on Alonzo Dodd’s 80-yard run, the Stars defense stopped a two-point conversion attempt. Johnson’s 23-yard touchdown run gave the Stars a 34-26 lead. Dodd, who finished with 231 yards rushing in 10 carries, also had a 96-yard TD run in the first quarter. Dodd also threw a 50-yard TD pass. Johnson carried the ball 39 times.
Minneapolis Southwest 36, Richfield 35 [OT]: The Lakers blocked a PAT in overtime to defeat the host Spartans. Richfield, which trailed 29-7 at halftime, outscored the Lakers 22-0 in the second half as Mitchell January ran for two touchdowns and threw a TD pass. January scored on a 5-yard run and then ran for the two-point conversion with 1:42 remaining to tie the game 29-29. The Lakers went first in the overtime. Preston Engen’s fourth TD pass of the game and the PAT gave the Lakers a 36-29 lead. January, who passed for 336 yards, threw a TD pass to Kaleb Olson before the Lakers blocked the PAT.
Red Wing 32, Albert Lea 7: The Wingers ended a 27-game losing streak with the victory over the visiting Tigers. It was the Wingers’ first victory since defeating Albert Lea in the playoffs in October 2017. It’s the Wingers’ first regular-season victory since 2015 and just their second in the past 44 games.
Waconia 21, Orono 7: Max McEnelly rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns to lead the visiting Wildcats to the victory over the Spartans, ranked No. 10 in Class 4A. McEnelly’s 13-yard TD run with 90 seconds to go in the third quarter gave the Wildcats a 20-0 lead.
