Here they go again.

Five weeks have passed since Wayzata's football team played host to Eden Prairie for the Lake Conference title, with the defending Class 5A champion Trojans limiting the Eagles' offense in a 9-0 victory.

Since then, all Eden Prairie has done is put up 35 or more points in three of the four playoff games and earn a spot in its eighth Prep Bowl. The Eagles once again will face Wayzata, which hasn't lost a game since the 2009 state quarterfinals to ... Eden Prairie.

The much-anticipated matchup is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday at the Metrodome. If last weekend's semifinals are any indication, spectators are in for a wild ride.

The teams left zero doubt who are the top dogs in the state's largest class, winning by a combined 91-7.

The seemingly at-will scoring came through the air (402 combined yards), on the ground (424) and after forced turnovers (six).

Buckle up.

"We haven't played a bad game all year," Eden Prairie coach Mike Grant said.

In Class 3A, the potential for another west-metro Prep Bowl matchup was thwarted when Annandale and Providence Academy came up short in the semifinals.

Mr. Football hopefuls

Eden Prairie running back Andrew Larson and wide receiver Andre McDonald of Hopkins are among the 10 finalists for this year's Mr. Football Award, presented annually since 2004 to the top senior player in the state.

Hornets record a record

En route to Edina winning its 11th state team girls' swimming and diving championship last weekend, the Hornets' 200-yard freestyle relay team of Olivia Anderson, Emma Wittmer, Maryellen Campbell and Nikki Larson broke Minnesota's all-time record with a finish of 1 minute, 34.40 seconds.

The Hornets won all three relays in Class 2A, the first team to do so.

Edina scored points 17 times in the nine individual events. Larson led the way with a pair of individual titles, in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly events.

Edina finished with 316 points. Minnetonka was runner-up with 188 points.

Robins win PI soccer

The Robins of Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound Westonka won the PI division of the adapted soccer tournament, defeating Anoka-Hennepin 3-0 in the championship game.

Seventh-grader Chaun Johnson scored the eventual game-winner with four minutes to play in the first half. The victory capped a 10-0-1 season for Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound Westonka, its fourth consecutive season without a loss.
