The west metro's top teams are each a win away from facing each other again.

Eden Prairie running back Andrew Larson (28) carried Wayzata tacklers with him on a run from scrimmage during the game on Oct. 19 at Wayzata.

One round into the state football tournament and this much we know as all the surviving teams set their GPS devices for downtown Minneapolis: In Class 5A, Eden Prairie and Wayzata are still pretty good teams.

Aw, heck. They dominate.

Both teams breezed into the state semifinals with Eden Prairie knocking out Anoka 35-21 and Wayzata smashing Moorhead 49-14.

On opposite sides of the bracket, the two would meet for the state championship on Nov. 25 with a victory in this week's semifinals. When they played on Oct. 19, Wayzata prevailed 9-0.

EDEN PRAIRIE (10-1) VS. TOTINO-GRACE (11-1)

8:15 P.M. FRIDAY, METRODOME

Scouting Eden Prairie: The Eagles found their offensive groove again against the Tornadoes, a week after escaping Minnetonka with a 6-3 victory in the Section 6 championship game. The Eagles raced to a 28-6 lead thanks in part to short and long plays. Running back Andrew Larson scored from 8 yards and Grant Schaeffer hit RaShawn Fountain for a 75-yard score. Combine with a defense that bends but doesn't break (Anoka's 21 points were the most allowed all year) and you have a formidable concoction.

WAYZATA (11-0) VS. CRETIN-DERHAM HALL (11-0)

8:15 P.M. SATURDAY, METRODOME

Scouting Wayzata: Three playoff games in 2011, 100 points scored. Any questions? Well, actually there are a few. Even a team that hasn't lost since 2009 isn't on autopilot. "We rarely talk that much about the game itself," coach Brad Anderson said, noting the team's preparation and attention to detail. The Trojans have dealt with injuries. Running back Antonio Ford is the biggest beneficiary. The senior transfer from Coon Rapids has feasted the past two weeks with Erik Roti out. He rushed for 249 yards against the Spuds.
