Star Tribune roundup: Playing on new turf, Rocori routs Hutchinson to improve to 6-0

Camdyn Bauer threw two touchdown passes and ran for a touchdown to lead Rocori, ranked No. 2 in Class 4A, to a 28-8 victory over visiting Hutchinson, ranked No. 3 in Class 4A, on Thursday.

Bauer’s touchdown passes and a 13-yard touchdown run by Brady Linn helped the Spartans (6-0), who won the Class 4A state title last year, build a 21-0 halftime lead.

Bauer’s 6-yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter extended the Spartans lead to 27-0.
Hutchinson (4-2) scored in the final minute of the game on a 19-yard run and two-point conversion run by Alex Elliott.

The Spartans were playing their first game on their new turf field. They played their first five games on the road or neutral sites, while the field was being installed.

Brooklyn Center 42, Minneapolis Henry 20: Maxien Madyun and Romerus Sykora each scored three touchdowns to lead the Centaurs past the visiting Patriots. It was the final game of the season for the Centaurs (5-1), who will not compete in the Class 3A, Section 5 playoffs. The Brooklyn Center school district is shifting to distance learning on Monday.

Minneapolis North 22, Minneapolis Southwest 0: Terrance Kamara rushed 32 times for 153 yards and a touchdown and Zach Yeager threw two touchdown passes to lead the Polars (5-1), ranked No. 4 in Class 2A, past the visiting Lakers (4-2).

Becker 35, Willmar 0: Becker took advantage of five fumbles by Willmar to shutout the visiting Cardinals (4-2), ranked No. 7 in Class 4A. Sophomore Ryan Bengston threw three touchdown passes and ran for a touchdown to lead the Bulldogs (3-2). The victory was the 370th career victory for Bulldogs coach Dwight Lundeen, who has a 370-163-5 career record.

Breck 40, Minneapolis Roosevelt 6: Charlie Ryks passed for 192 yards and four touchdowns and Beau Courneya ran for two touchdowns to pace the visiting Mustangs (5-1).

Litchfield 39, New London-Spicer 12: Ben Alsleben threw four touchdown passes and ran for two touchdowns to spark the visiting Dragons, ranked No. 9 in Class 3A. Alsleben has thrown 19 TD passes for the Dragons (5-1).

Minneapolis Washburn 33, Providence Academy 10: Jamarien Wheeler caught touchdown passes of 97, 57 and 33 yards to pace the Millers (5-1) over the visiting Lions.
