High school football games taking place Wednesday through Friday mark the regular season’s end. Star Tribune prep reporters David La Vaque and Jim Paulsen are tied with 14-4 records.

St. Michael-Albertville (5-0) at Eden Prairie (5-0), 7 p.m. Wednesday

Jim says: Weather will be a factor. Snow and cold play well for a defense, particularly one playing at home. Eden Prairie’s defense has been mighty good, even in good conditions. Eden Prairie 22, St. Michael-Albertville 7

David says: St. Michael-Albertville is playing at a high level. But Eden Prairie will slow Knights’ senior running back David Collins and grind out a victory. Eden Prairie 28, St. Michael-Albertville 14

Farmington (4-1)at Lakeville North (3-2), 6 p.m. Wednesday

Jim says: Lakeville North has been more mercurial this year than any I can remember. Farmington showed well against Lakeville South and has something to prove. Farmington 29, Lakeville North 26

David says: Farmington whiffed on a chance to upset Lakeville South and join the state’s elite. The Tigers won’t find any better luck on the North side. Lakeville North 30, Farmington 20

Minneapolis Southwest (4-0) at Minneapolis North (4-0), 6 p.m. Thursday

Jim says: North has struggled two consecutive weeks, getting shut out by Fridley last week. Who saw that coming? No one I know, including North. North 32, Southwest 22

David says: Humbled last week, a refocused North team reminds any doubters of its place as a top program regardless of classification. North 38, Southwest 14

Rogers (4-1) at Andover (5-0), 7 p.m. Friday

Jim says: Andover’s potent offense gets all the attention, but the Huskies play a good defense, too. They’ll need it, because runnin’ Rogers is built for this time of year. Rogers 19, Andover 14

David says: Andover slings it. Rogers runs it. Contrasting styles should make for a good chess match of a game. Andover 31, Rogers 21
