Top performer winner

Sam Treml, Shakopee. The Sabers' defense recorded their second-straight game without allowing a point in their 35-0 blanking of Wayzata. Treml, a senior, led the Sabers with a sack and 10 tackles, including two for a loss.

Top performer candidates

Christian Arteaga, St. Louis Park. The junior produced his third consecutive game with double-digit tackles as the Orioles defeated Orono 35-27 for their first win of the season. Arteaga had 13 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles to lead the Orioles’ defensive line.

Jordyn Greseth, Blaine. As the Bengals recorded their third consecutive win — and their fourth game this season scoring four or more touchdowns — the defensive line tallied 93 total tackles. Greseth, a junior, recorded 15 of those tackles, including one for a loss, nearly doubling the team's second-leading tacklers who had eight. The Bengals defeated Osseo 45-26.

Jaden Norby, West Central Area/Ashby. The Knights avenged two consecutive losses with a 28-20 victory at Pillager. After three first-half touchdowns by each team, the Knights defense locked in and blanked the Pillager offense in the second half. The Knights’ defense was led by Norby, a senior, with a season-high 13 total tackles — two were for a loss.

Andy Thomsen, Grand Rapids. The junior led the Thunderhawks’ defense during their second shutout of the season — a 41-0 victory at Cloquet. Thomsen tallied 13 total tackles and added a sack. He forced a fumble, and recovered two fumbles — including one which he returned 95 yards for the final TD in the Thunderhawks' victory.

Sam Treml, Shakopee. The Sabers' defense recorded their second-straight game without allowing a point in their 35-0 blanking of Wayzata. Treml, a senior, led the Sabers with a sack and 10 tackles, including two for a loss.
