We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.

Other game to keep an eye on

Hermantown vs. Grand Rapids, 7 p.m., Friday, Oct 16. A hockey rivalry, to be sure. But football? This shapes up as a potential thriller given Grand Rapids (1-0, 1-0) pounded Duluth East 41-14 and Hermantown  (1-0, 1-0) dominated Duluth Denfeld 36-0 in the teams’ openers on Oct. 9. Grand Rapids senior quarterback Trent Johnson recorded five touchdowns (four throwing and one running) in the rout of the Greyhounds.
