Wayzata (0-1, 0-1) stormed back on the following possession and scored on quarterback Ryan Harvey’s 80-yard strike to wide receiver Julian Diedrich. The Harvey to Diedrich connection continued with two more touchdown passes of 20 and 14 yards to give the Trojans a 21-7 lead at halftime.
Shaver added a 63-yard touchdown run with five minutes remaining in the third quarter and a 34-yard scamper up the middle in the fourth quarter. The final touchdown came with 3 minutes, 37 seconds remaining in the game and brought the Lakers within one point, 28-27. Haas then completed a pass to Tanner Newlin on the ensuing two-point conversion to complete the comeback and give the Lakers the lead.
Wayzata mustered a final drive with time winding down in the fourth quarter, but a 30-yard field goal attempt with 6.2 seconds remaining missed left.
