Staff writers David La Vaque and Jim Paulsen disagree on just about everything. David made inroads on Jim's lead by winning two of three last week. A trend? Or simply dumb luck? Tally so far: Jim 16, David 8.

EDEN PRAIRIE (7-0) AT WAYZATA (7-0), 7 P.M.

David says: Wayzata 28, Eden Prairie 22

It's unclear why the defending Class 5A champion Trojans lost their No. 1 ranking to Eden Prairie. No matter, they will take it back Wednesday. With senior Nick Martin giving Wayzata an edge in quarterback play, the Trojans can move the ball in various ways and score at a pace that Eden Prairie's run-heavy offense won't match.

Jim says: Eden Prairie 24, Wayzata 14

Here's something that doesn't happen often: Eden Prairie, playing on the road against an undefeated defending state champion, can be considered an underdog. Count on Eagles coach Mike Grant to play up that angle. Toss in a one-point overtime loss to Wayzata last year and Eden Prairie will be an extremely motivated bunch.

DELANO (7-0) AT GLENCOE-SILVER LAKE (6-1), 7 P.M.

David says: Glencoe-Silver Lake 21, Delano 14

Glencoe-Silver Lake gets a third crack at a top-10 team in Class 4A and given what happened last week, they will be ready. Trailing 20-16, the Panthers ran out of time for a comeback victory only four yards from the goal line. Expect them to tighten up their pass defense, move the ball better against Delano and win their 40th home game at Stevens Seminary Field in 43 tries.

Jim says: Delano 20, Glencoe-Silver Lake 15

It's been six years and seven games since Delano has beaten Glencoe-Silver Lake. That streak stops here as the Tigers bring their usual hard-running offense and physical defense. The bonus this year is an infrequent but efficient passing game. Of 37 pass completions, 15 have gone for touchdowns.

CHAMPLIN PARK (4-3) AT ANOKA (6-1), 7 P.M.

David says: Champlin Park 20, Anoka 13

Champlin Park coughed up what should have been its fourth consecutive victory last week on a late desperation pass by Osseo. The belief here is the Rebels will finish Wednesday's game in style. History is certainly on their side. Since 2003, when Champlin Park and Anoka began playing for a traveling trophy called The Paddle, the Rebels are 8-0 in regular-season meetings.

Jim says: Anoka 35, Champlin Park 24

With a victory, Anoka would clinch the Northwest Suburban championship outright. With the exception of Wayzata, no team has been able to stop the Tornadoes' three-pronged rushing attack of Djay Johnson, Josh Werness and Ryan Rand, who have combined for 1,807 yards and 19 touchdowns. QB Cole Brougher brings a nice touch to the passing attack, completing more than 60 percent of his passes.
